Traditional "Spotlight"

Hey guys, quick question here.

I know that Octane doesn't have a spotlight style of light to use like native LW.

However what if I need to project an image onto a floor surface in the same way I would have with a projection with a spotlight in LW?

Thanks in advance to anyone who responds :)

I have had to do the same with auditorium lights doing a gobo light shadow. I was told and have used basically a setup just like you would in the real world. There is very few FAKES in Octane.

I use a tiny box, normally with a morph so I can adjust the focus of the light of sorts. In front of the box I have a piece of geometry or image map with transparency to produce the shape/design of light.

One issue I've had with this kind of setup is the sample precision. Normally I have to have this particular light MUCH HIGHER in power than other lights int he scene. This will cause a difference in how the samples are cleaned up on other lights (at least for my setups) So I have to fiddle with getting a good mix of cleanup on this light as opposed to others. I can't remember from memory if this light TAKES over the samples or if the others get cleaner quicker...

Hope some of that helps. I know there is a thread that Juanjo posted to a similar question for me a while back, with a sample object and such. Good luck!
