Let try first to finish a stable production-ready release of the current Octane 3.08 /LW2018 plugin ;) ... a new RC2 build is coming later this week ...

Thanks,

Absolutely. I have no doubt you'll get it all done, you've been amazing thus far! This appears to be a surprise announcement for us.

Keep up the amazing work!

Thanks Juanjo!

Hi Juanjgon,

Do you plane to support lw 2015 on the next octane plugin?

Thanks,

Francesco

I've heard from an interview that the 3.08 code is moving into Version 4, which begs the question - will the Lightwave version of Octane be one of the free versions or no? If you know, Juan, please let us know.

I read on the forum that Octane V4 would be free, it would be nice if there was a small participation anyway. I'm afraid that freeware kills the development of plugins.

no fear Sylvian,

the free plug in versions are limited to 2 GPU`s.

this is a kind of marketing campaign. every dealer will tell you that the first time is free. ;)
and if these users use octane first then they want more computing power.
and then you have to buy the full version like everyone else.
There is therefore no danger that this marketing measure damages the developers.
on the contrary.
this secures the jobs of the developers.
It also helps to increase the user base.
The idea is almost the same as free software trials.
I do not see any problems there.
this is in my opinion a very clever move.

It seems that that ‘what is free and what is not’ is still very vague. I was assuming that V3 to V4 upgrade was free. :)
