Render on the Network

Hi,

I want to render over the network using 3 x 1080 cards. I bought 2 stand alone licenses but It won't work for me.

The manual is very basic on this, it only says to allow Layout on the firewall.

So, when I open the network options on both machines they only show themselves instead of a full lineup.

Is there a tutorial on this on how to make it work?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, when I run the Batch file _INSTALL_DEAMON.BAT It says: Access Denied twice.
I've turned off the firewalls and the virus scanners but without any success. Any Ideas on what's happening here? Or is it possible to obtain the script another way?

In which port should the service listen (default: 48000)?
Please enter a number between 1024 and 65535:

Available GPUs:
1: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
2: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

Which GPUs should be used by the slave (default: all)?
Please keep default or enter a comma/space separated list:

Do you want to enable out-of-core textures on this machine? Please enter y/n (default: n):

Please confirm the entered values:
Port = 48000
GPUs = all
Out of core texture memory disabled

Are the values above correct? Please enter y/n (default: y):
Access Denied.
Access Denied.

Finished installation.
Press any key to continue . . .

Hi,

Are you running the install daemon script from a terminal with administrative privileges? Right-click over the command prompt, select "Run as administrator" and try again to see what happens.

Thanks,

Hmm, nope sorry. I'll ask the support team to see if they have seen this problem before. I'm not sure what could be the problem.

Thanks,

Hi Ruuterdetuuter,

Basically, "access denied" is an error dialog/message is returning from the workstation user settings policy or a 3rd party system security programme.
Have you tried to test installed the Slave daemon in any other windows environment pc?

Would you please try to exit any antivirus or firewall programs installed temporarily because some programs live protection service could be active in the background?
Then try run these 1) Install_daemon.bat then 2) run_installed_daemon.bat files?

Let us know how it goes!!

cheers
Kind Regards

I use Bitdefender as a firewall and antivirus (malware etc.) I'm unable to exit the program, that's a defense from Bitdefender also :)
I can make exceptions and shut down firewalls whenever I want to, but none of that has any effect on the *.bat file from Octane.

I'll keep struggling on, but is there any way that this can be reprogrammed in upcoming versions so it's easier to handle?

Hi,
I deinstalled Bitdefender from both machines and now the Batch file is working. While I'm reinstalling Bitdefender (I don't want to be unprotected) I did get both machines appearing in the Network Options tab saying "running slaves" in orange.

But when I open the IPR I still only have 2 GPU's instead of the 3 I should have to my use.
Even when rendering with F10 it still only uses the local GPU's and not the network ones.

What's the trick from this point on? The manual stops at this point...

Thanks in advance.

When you open the network rendering configuration panel from the LightWave plugin, what can you see there? And if you try the same from the Standalone? A screengrab could help.

Thanks,

Here you go Juanjgon,

This is a screengrab from LW 2018 but the same goes for 2015.3
As you can see The IPR (as well as the F10 render) only shows 2 GPU's where it should show 3 in my opinion.

Thanks in advance.
