.PC2 Displacement not motion blurring

We have exported trees from SpeedTree v8 as FBX and Alembic with point cache as a PC2. The files displace perfectly using DP_MD_x64 Pc2 pointer plugin, but there is no motion blur in either IPR or sequence renders, even though we have "enable deformations MB" enabled in the RenderTarget. Is this a problem from the lwSDK or is there something else that we need to do?

Hi,

Can you send me a sample scene to test it here? In theory any deformation motion blur should work in the final rendering if this option is enabled (not in the IPR, that doesn't support the deformations motion blur feature)

Thanks,

Thanks for replying Juanjo-

We sent you a PM with a link to the tree scene and .pc2 file. Just a heads-up, we also did try baking the pc2 out to an mdd but the motion blur was still not working when we brought it back in.

Hi,

I've downloaded your scene and I'm still investigating it. I'm afraid that this problem can be related to a limitation, perhaps the PC2 plugin side, to evaluate the motion using the LW SDK, and the lack of the the motion vectors concept in LightWave doesn't help at all.

I'll continue working on it to see if I can see exactly what happens and if a solution for it is possible.

The only workaround is to use the multipass motion blur, used for example by some users to render realflow simulations and so on.

Thanks,
-Juanjo
