IES on Polygons

Would it be possible to allow a surface with emitter to have an IES profile attached/used? But to make things more complicated that profile would be attached to each individual closed polygon.

Think of a 2x2 or 2x4 ceiling grid with lights in them. Have a single surface that would make each individual 4 point polygon that has the surface name LIGHT use a specific IES profile rather than the generic emit everywhere as it does now.

Don't know if it could be possible...but something to think about for a future feature.

Unless this is possible already, I figured only Juanjgon would be able to reply. Any thoughts?

The float texture node can read the IES files, so you can use the texture node linked to the emission node distribution pin to use an IES file.

I'm guessing each light would need to be UV mapped but that's a start...I'll give it a try. Thanks!

Hi Juanio,
could you help me with the shape and what dimensions I need to use to create a real light with IES distribution?
I mean it seems to me that the size doesn't matter but the shape yes. Do I need to use a plane square?
Thanks,
Roy

Yes, probably a small quad light is the best shaper for an IES light.
