36/36 ray depth is not enough!

hi juanjo,

i think 36/36 ray depth for the PT Kernel is from case to case not enough! if you build a complex SSS shader with a second (or more) material layers with light transmission options i have the feeling thats not enough...
is it possible to enlarge the depth up to ...i dont no...96 or 128? :)

Hi,

You can type any number in the numeric field. In fact, in Standalone you can set at least 2048 rays, so I suppose that Octane supports it ;)

Great render, BTW!

Thanks,
-Juanjo

Hi Juan,

It seems we can put up to 2048 shading Depth samples in PathTracing Kernel right ? But is it the same rules or limitations for Direct Lighting and PMC Kernels ?

Thanks.

Hi,

Check the limits in the Standalone. The PMC kernel has the same limits, but the in the direct lighting kernel the limits are lower. I suppose that large values make no sense. I suppose that I should update the plugin to have these also these limits in the sliders.

Thanks,
-Juanjo
