Waiting (delay btw frames)

I'm wondering what my Titan X is doing waiting 30 seconds between frame renders. The renders are 23- 24 seconds only, I'm literally waiting longer between frames than the render time. No compositing in scene, just an object on a ground plane over black. Nothing special. :?:

The object consists of about 60-70 subdivided objects each set to 0 display and 1 for render. I'm guess this is the culprit, freezing the meshes?

What was the problem? I suppose that you were using the LW subdivision and the Octane subdivision at the same time. Remember to set the LW display/render subdivisions to 0 if you are going to use the Octane subdivision.

I wasn't necessarily doubling them, but LW was set to 3 on many objects, I lowered it to 0 (no sub D) and it sped up considerably.

Older post/reply but long-standing topic
I go thru the same thing and didn't consider the freezing. But it's one thing to keep note. Lw subd will also account for things like fiberfx fiber count. Where if you only use octane subd it may not account for fiberfx specifics. I'm not certain of this but it's logic. That said if octane subD does take fiberfx fiber count into consideration then all the better. I will find out soon as I'm rendering a hairy beast for a film. And the Waiting is really costing me rendertime.
