Trying to render the volumetrics scenes and I'm running into problems. I'm getting the same error no matter what I do when the IPR window is rendering. Another scene I've created with Octane 2.x works fine with 3.0.

EDIT: The VDB scenes work fine and also got the Dragon scene to work once - the other times it failed.

I'm using a PNY Geforce GTX 980 with 4 GB memory (680 GTX as display card), i7 6-core 3.8 GHz and 24 GB memory. Lightwave 2015.3.

Trying the logos_volumetrics.lws I get the following:

RENDER FAILURE: the render can't be completed. Enable and check the log file for more details. I've attached the complete log file as well.

Log file output where the error occurs:

It appears 3.0 is a bit faster in some quick tests. I'm getting more samples per second with 3.0 then I was with 2.24. Maybe as much as 20% Sweet.

You need to redirect the config files if you want to avoid problems. I will check the IPR process ASAP.

Thanks for the plugin update !

Wrong label name, instead of phase there should be ray step and so another one should be added named phase.

Here all scenes run fine except the volume instancing example, it throws RENDER FAILURE message.

Weird, Does anyone else have this problem? ... do you have your GPU overclocked or perhaps other Octane version running at the same time?

For some reason instance example and logo example stopped working ( logo was working 5 minutes ago ). I had to reload the plugin and now all examples work.




Now again first 2 scenes don't work (RENDER FAILURE), I was just loading scenes and starting IPR I didn't change anything to the scenes.




I have to clear the scene, remove Octane master plugin, exit LW, start LW, add Octane 3 plugin again and then those scenes work again.

No overclocking except maybe from the factory settings being overclocked on purpose from PNY. No other version of Octane running at all. Got one of the procedural scenes to work, 2 others failed.

Reloaded Lightwave and now the logo scene and the clouds scene work - they didn't before. Left over settings that didn't get cleaned out perhaps?

EDIT: instancing_volumes.lws still not working

I don't think so. Perhaps there are some issues yet with the volumetric rendering. Let's see how it works for other users.

Do you have your drivers updated?
