Daylight Environment - Sun Direction HPB via Nodal Inputs

Hey all. I've been having trouble with a seemingly simple task that's becoming a nodal nightmare.

I wish to control the Sun Direction HPB values using input nodes driven by 'X' (in this case X=current render camera)

When used without nodes all is well..

But when attempting to control HPB values via input nodes this happens. Note the input spy node values are identical to those in Sun Direction HPB.

Any ideas why?.. running out of hair to pull out.

Thanks Juango..

This might help. I found adding a light info node works (and selecting any given light as a sun) It returns values between -1 and 1. Rather than 0- 360 for degrees. Looks like you've designed the Sun Direction inputs to track direction data from a Lightwave light. I've found a workaround if anyone is interested in dynamically switching the sun source based on which camera is currently active WITHOUT having to keyframe.

Cheers,
Dino.

Ok. I just remember what is the problem ... this input is desiged to work linked to the "Direction" output of the "Light Info" node to match the light direction with the Octane sun direction. To make this possible this input has a math function inside it that transform the LW light direction to Octane sun direction, so you can't use a direct vector input with custom values.

To drive or animate the sun direction using this input you should link a "Light Info" node of a LW light (that is not going to be rendered os used by Octane at all) to the "Sun Direction", and then use the light to set the angle values. After modify the light transformation, you are going to need to press "Redraw" in the IPR window to see the changes.

Bingo.. thanks Juanjo. It's not exactly what I was trying to achieve initially but it's actually better because I can see the results in VPR before I refresh IRP.

nice.
