Smoothing Angle requires reload IPR

Just a quick one.. I noticed that changing the smoothing angle for any given surface requires one to reload IPR to see the changes. Is this a bug or a necessary evil. Can be quite time consuming for larger scenes.

Cheers,
Dino.

Yes, this is known issue. Problem is that smoothed normals are not available in Lightwave until you change the smoothing angle parameter. So after change this parameter, Octane needs to reload the scene again to get the new smoothed normals from the Lightwave scene. Currently I don't know a way to fix it.

Thanks Juanjo, whilst not a huge issue it would be a significant timesaver in some scenes. My workaround for now is to set smothing values in modeller, leaving less tweaking in layout. Do you see a potential fix in future versions of the plugin/lightwave/sdk?

Cheers,
Dino.

This issue is not going to be easy to fix. Perhaps you should adjust the smoothing angle of the surfaces in a simple scene with only this object to make the reload process faster.
