Export Object Transform Animation to Orbx/Ocs

Hey there,

i just found out, that there is a new option to export animations with only transforms. This works great for cameraanimation, but does not work for objects. Is there a trick? Objects stay static in Octane Standalone no matter what I try.

"So only use this export command if there are animated vertices or animated deformers/meshops in the scene. If you only want to export a camera animation, then tick Kernel->Animation->Camera Motion Blur and use the Export Frame option from the Export Render button. If you want to export both a camera animation and geometry transform animations, then tick Kernel->Animation->Object Motion Blur and use the Export Frame option from the Export Render button. "

All the best

Edit: latest Plugin, latest Modo by the way

Just noticed, that there is some animation in the exported file, but only on Frame 0

Hi - the Export Frame option uses the Octane SDK to export the current frame in the Octane nodegraph to ORBX/OCS. OTOY let me know that an unintended consequence was that the camera transform animation track isexported too (this is not by design, but by accident). However the object transform animations are /not/ exported unfortunately.

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

thank you for your answer! Is there any chance that can be brought back? In my last Project I had a very light scene, but 7 very heavy proxies with animated transforms. Using the export animation command was unusable in this case. My workaround was to replace the proxies with very light proxies, export as ocs and replace the proxies in Standalone. While this works it is very inconvenient and could lead to user errors (connecting the wrong proxies). It would be very cool to improve exporting animations to standalone, because it has some major advantages:

- No crashing caused by modo
- Easy to setup Batch and shutdown when finished
- Easy to rerender, make adjustments
- Rendering in Cloud

Thank you in advance!

I agree that it would be great if this was supported. It's something that OTOY would need to implement in the core render engine, so I suggest submitting it to them as a feature request (probably in the latest 2022.1 release thread).

Thanks

Paul
