Hi guys,

Is there a time frame when Octane X will work on Modo 15? It seems that the development for Modo is far behind (PR8 vs PR11c4d). Are too few people using it, or why can't I use it? It's a bit of a hassle to always use Cinema 4D as a render program when I create everything else in Modo 15.1. Can we still expect it or has it been abandoned and it is already somewhere here in the forum? I just need a clear announcement. Then I switch to blender, which seems to be the most future-proof.

Is there a time frame when Octane X will work on Modo 15?
Hi - I have issues with PR11 crashing Modo, so unfortunately it will require OTOY investigates - which they will action at some point. Sorry for the delay.

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul - Is it possible to play with an instable version or is it really unusable?

It crashes when Modo is starting, so it's not much use.

Hey Paul,

an OSL Texture I often use causes an errormessage (but does work):
FileName::existsAsFile() can be called only on absolute file names

It's the code at the bottom of this page:
https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=68094

Is this an modo or octane issue?

The error is actually in the script, but previous Octane versions were just silently ignoring it, and this causes some issues with the way the plugin builds the nodegraph.

You can fix the script by changing
Code: Select all
string File = "1",

to

Code: Select all
string File = "",

Hi good Modo/Octane people,

I upgraded my old OctaneRender 4 license to 2020.x last night and so far, so good. I'm up and running in Modo 15 on my RTX 3070 Ti.

I have a question that's not directly tied to the Modo plug-in, but I'll just ask it here. It's about general licensing.

I know that when you currently buy a new license with 12 months maintenance you pick a fallback plug-in to keep if/when maintenance lapses. But I don't think there was anything like that when I upgraded my V4 license to 2020.x perpetual with 12 months maintenance.

Under my licenses OctaneRender standalone says 2020 and "Status" is "All access".

The Modo plug-in license below still says Version 4. (I don't have any other old V4 plug-ins).

So how does this all work if/when my current maintenance lapses in the future. Is Modo for 2020.x my fallback plug-in since I don't have any other plug-ins?

It's just currently a bit unclear as the license still says Version 4.

Thank you!

As this is not directly related to the plugin functionality, I suggest submitting a ticket to OTOY via the Support menu option at the top of this thread.

Thanks
