Best practices for Moving object between scenes?

Paul, Octane gurus,

I've got a question. As the subject heading says, what are the best practices for moving objects with Octane shaders between various scenes?
I'm currently building up a library of objects in Modo and will be exclusively rending these object in various scenes using Octane...the plugin.
I've done some tests dragging the octane shaded objects between scenes and everything seems to be ok...apart from the octane node in the shader tree not having a reference back to the node workspace.
I'd like to just click the Octane shader in the shader tree and have it open a workspace, with expanded nodes, like in the original file...but this is not working for me.
Am I missing something, or is this a modo/workspace issue?

Cheers,
Toby
