Thanks for your reply Paul
I inquired… there is no possibility to update my system to Catalina without losing the use of my nvidia card.
And I don't know if my Mac Pro is compatible with Metal with an AMD card…

But Paul, let me insist please, what I still don't understand is that Modo runs correctly under Hight Sierra, OctaneRender Studio 2020 too (so Octane 2020 in general), but the Octane plugin for Modo does not run on this system.
There is no really way to re-build this version of the plug-in to run on Hight Sierra ?
I don't see what technical difficulty there might be.

I'm sure it would allow all "old" mac users to use Octane 2020.
It looks like planned obsolescence but not because of the hardware but because of the software (or rather of the plugin) ;)
Otherwise I have to change my computer for a PC, but in this pandemic period it really is not a priority… :|

Yes, Modo runs correctly - however you need Cuda drivers to run Octane, and the last version of OSX which supports Cuda is High Sierra (https://www.provideocoalition.com/officially-official-nvidia-drops-cuda-support-for-macos/). I have had to move to Catalina in order to work on the plugins for OctaneX/Catalina, so can no longer build the Modo plugin for High Sierra. There is no way for me to now rebuild the plugin for High Sierra, sorry. This is an issue caused by Apple and Nvidia, and not OTOY.

Substance plugin compatibility looks to be broken with 2020, example below. It seems to be working fine if I manually import and assign all the maps.

Modo 14, Substance 2.7.3 and octane 2020 rc2.
The Substance devs say this this is now fixed in Substance release 2.7.4.

Hello
I'm having a strange problem (Modo 14, win 10, 32 go ram, gtx 1080 ti, Nvidia drivers 445.87)
When I installed the plugin, It worked fine the first time I used It. I turned my computer off for the night, next day, Octane loads sluggishly, even with just a cube, and the authentification screen is almost not responsive. When I finaly can enter the infos, It refuses to authenticate, stating that internet might be disconnected. I uninstalled the plugin, restarted and re-installed It again and It worked back to normal. After turning off my computer, the problem is back, I can't autheticate and Octane welcome screen is slugish like hell.
edit: Just uninstalled again, restarted and reinstalled and It works as expected ... until next time I restart modo and / or windows.

Despite uninstalling Enterprise 2019.1.4 and installing Studio 2020.1, the render log still reports that I'm using Enterprise 2019.1.4. I'm not sure what the problem is since both the standalone & plugin are up-to-date. Can someone please help?

Hi Marc. Does this also happen with Octane Standalone? What version of the plugin are you running? Have you tried with Modo13?

What was the filename of the 2020.1 installer you used please?

Hi Paul,

I just installed the following apps earlier this week:

OctaneRender_for_Modo_2020_1_0_161_STUDIO.exe
OctaneRender_Studio_2020_1_win.exe
Modo14.0v2_Windows.msi

FYI: The Octane Plugin works fine as is, despite showing the incorrect version.

I just installed OctaneRender_for_Modo_2020_1_0_161_STUDIO.exe and it shows the correct STUDIO version in the Octane Log. I suggest deleting your Modo CFG file, and reinstall the above plugin version.

Hi Paul,

Long story short, it was the install path that was causing issues. It kept defaulting to my admin account, instead of my local user account, which explains why the newer versions never showed up. Strange that the Enterprise version didn't have this issue. Anyways, thanks for your help!

NOTE: The old roadmap thread seems outdated -- is there an updated thread for this? Or rather, a thread where we can put in for feature requests?
