'Refreshing Octane Geometry' is killing me.

I have a pretty complex CAD file (a few thousand mesh items, instances and replicators). It's a 180 frame animation with just the camera and a couple of locators with parented geometry moving. Frame 1 (or a still frame) takes about 1 minute of 'Loading Scene into Octane' and 1 minute of rendering. Nice. Well, on frame 2 (and all the others) MODO takes upwards to 10 minutes of 'Refreshing Octane Geometry'.

One the Mesh Items 'Live Geometry Update' is not checked. 'Reload mesh each frame when animating is not checked'

I remember a 'Load All frames into Octane' option at some point but that doesn't seem to exist anymore.

The 'Don't reload mesh objects' is greyed out in the 'Octane Kernal/Animation' prefs. I don't know if this would help if I could figure out how to turn it on since I'm afraid it won't pickup the animation.....

Paul, any help? What's going on? Seems like once the geometry is loaded into Octane and there's just simple transforms or camera movement you shouldn't have to load the whole scene back in...and also why is 'Refreshing Octane Geometry' literally 10x slower than the initial 'Loading scene into Octane'? Going to try and save this out as an animation and render in stand alone. I need this to figure this out.

Btw - using octane.saveAnimation and saving out an .ocs and rendering in stand-alone is not problem (so I'm not screwed here)...but it is weird and buggy with the whole 'refreshing octane geometry' taking 10 minutes when the initial scene load is only 1 min.

The latest version of the plugin substantially increases the speed with which scenes with large numbers of live meshes load. So if you have performance issue with a particular scene, pls try the latest plugin version.

Thanks

Latest, meaning 2018 which now is subscription instead of a straight out purchase?

The latest version of the plugin substantially increases the speed

Do you refer to Octane 2018, or both 2018 and the latest build of Octane 4?
