export Orbx from Archicad to use in MODO?

i've saved an Orbx file in Archicad which opens and renders as expected in Octane standalone but won't render in MODO

i'm loading the Orbx as a proxy in MODO and have no issues using other Orbx files (also as proxies)

is there some kind of limitation here as the Orbx was exported from Archicad?

Hi - what specific issue/error are you getting please? Can you send me the ORBX you are using as the proxy? Which version of the Modo plugin are you using?

Thanks

no error as such. i point Octane to an Orbx proxy mesh (same as i would for a plant for e.g) but the proxy exported from AC doesn't render

i just see the background environment and nothing else where the object should be. if i switch to one of my plant proxies (not exported from AC) then everything works as expected

attached is a simple cube (around 5m high/wide), exported from AC as orbx

using MODO 14.2

i need to combine linework from AC with MODO renders. scattering in AC is both clunky and limited so i need to do it in MODO and the easiest way to link the AC model is to simply save it as an orbx and import in MODO as a proxy. then if i need to update the AC model i simply save another orbx and update the MODO scene...

not ideal but it's way quicker than trying to export a model from AC and then dealing with changes to the mesh, to materials and so on

Hi - this is due to a quirk in the way Octane handles Object Layer Maps. I believe OTOY were going to look at a solution at some point. The workaround is to edit the ORBX file in Octane Standalone, and then add a Geometry Out node to the nodegraph and plug in the Mesh node to it. Then render in the Modo plugin.

Thanks

thanks Paul that works

i've done some quick tests and i think the nodes can be changed directly in MODO, which saves time and hassle

so if anyone else needs to do this:

load the proxy in MODO
click the 'Edit proxy file' button
link the 'Geometry out' node to the 'Mesh' Node
then SAVE the proxy - click the 'Save proxy file' button

Yes, that is an even easier way to do it - thanks.
