Watch my video on youtube -> https://youtu.be/NGrlmfpc0iw :
- At lightning button disabled, I can't render any scene - rendering stucked
- At lightning button enabled, I can render any scene!! But AI denoiser does not work. :? :(

Attention to my post previous on today. ;)

I tried to boot to Windows 7 x64 SP1 with GF 473.04 driver and... I can render any scene at Lightning disabled and I can enable AI denoising at new Photon Tracing kernel!!!!! :D <3 :D

GF 511.xx driver issue or Windows 10 x64 issue causes the render began stucked at lightning mode disabled. ;)

But noises aren't abnormal in "Procedural Prism" scene with new Photon Tracing kernel. But I can't enable "AI denoising" this scene due to the lightning mode enabled. - see my post on Thu Apr 28, 2022 at 11:09am UTC. ;)

Thanks for the video. Is it possible that there are no devices enabled for imaging? Please check Preferences > Devices and make sure there's a tick in the "Image" column. That seems to be consistent with the behavior you're seeing. It is clear that we need a better user experience in this case - I'm working on some ideas.

Regarding the denoiser not working in real time mode, this is expected - real time mode disables a lot of features in order to increase the viewport speed, and the denoiser is one of them. There will be a much more comprehensive description of the real time mode feature when it is fully complete in a final 2022.1 build.

"Metal and CUDA network render interoperability"

This is the #1 issue for us being able to continue using octane. Currently stuck on high sierra till this singular feature is developed.

just curious if theres any news on an ETA for this?

We have started working on it, but it won't be in 2022.1 and is planned for 2022.2. It's a big change.

After install OR 2022.1 XB1, "image" and "Denoise" (Preferences > Devices) was disabled by default (!?!) on Win10 while both are enabled on Win7. lol. On Win10, I enable these both and... I can render any scene and I can enable AI denoiser at lightning mode disabled! Thank you! :)

Strong noises - I'm searching any problem... and I can find "allow caustics" unchecked "allow caustics" on "floor" material settings - OTOY had disabled BADLY it and he/she made a mistake. I enabled "allow caustics" remove strong noises. lol Thank you. :D

Thank you for very good quick direct+indirect caustics! :D We know PPM (Progressive Photon Mapping) method doesn't render any direct+indirect light reflected and/or refracted, unfortunately. ;)

Any direct light (eg: our sunlight, spot, dot light...) reflected and/or refracted on/in any specular material is good at pathtracing kernel but the disadvantage of pathtracing despite new photon tracing kernel: any indirect light reflected and/or refracted is much harder than direct because the pathtracing (in photon tracing kernel) has still no any more efficiency.

But good accuracy indirect light reflected/refracted needs number of spp (samples per pixel):
- ~1-2mega spp at our sunlight but with AI denoiser 100k~200k spp.
- ~400k spp at 2x our sun size
- ~100k spp at 5x " " "

Do you understand this and do you agree this? :) But any new method inside of Photon tracing kernel for more efficiency for any indirect light reflected/refracted?

Update - we've become aware of at least one OS/driver related issue on MacOS 12.0.1. We therefore recommend you to use the latest available stable MacOS 12.

I've noted this in the release post too.
