I'm guessing that Otoy is not legally allowed to say much about it until the new Mac Pros actually ship. Until then, sit back and add some more rum to your eggnog.

Why would this have anything to do with Apple, it’s not a partnership. Don’t let Otoy off easy, they’ve been promising AMD support since 2016(https://home.otoy.com/octanerender-3-an ... ap-update/), they need to be held accountable for the claims they make.

Hey there,

I just bought an enterprise license to be able to try this release. But I just saw, that this is just standalone - am I right about that? Why is it in Houdini/Releases and something about Hydra delegate and stuff? When will the plugin be available?

Cheers, Lukas

Hi Guys,

Round edges is not support with RTX, I tested the scene which I provide you guys before R2D2 and Baby Groot.

"Baby Groot" there is no difference, basically RTX is slower then the version without.

"R2D2" RTX speed well but.... when I switch off round corners is the same results is not that big. ( I guess is because round corners is not supported on RTX)

My version is win10 nvidia driver 441.28 (studio) with 2*RTX 2080ti

Best,
JO

The RTX Performance Test on with studio driver 441.28 is ".83x faster" with interior architecture scenes with (2) rtx 2080ti

Lol what is this?

IT's slower with RTX On.

2019 experimental one (i think vulkan) was faster.

This is a joke, i sold all my gtx 1080 ti's to get the rtx cards...atleast i have more warranty i guess..

why even release this?

No RTX = 12sec /frame
With RTX = 13sec/frame

2019 vulkan =with rtx 11 sec...

Well, it is a beta release. Still, this is discouraging preliminary news.

RTX is completely scene dependent. Here are two users seeing 3x speed out of the box with 2020.1:

So if RTX isn’t giving you that kind of speed boost then the raytracing HW simply can’t help your scene - and that’s OK, it should just render as it did before RTX was an option. We will make it so that it will automatically be at least as fast as CUDA, and this current bug will be fixed by the stable release.
