Often 2x2 up-sampling will result in the image being split on the screen, with a big black bar between the top and bottom, where the top and bottom are squished.

Ok, what settings did you select? You have a dropdown menu for 2x2/4x4 up sampling, and an enable checkbox which you have to check.

I see now. I enabled 2x2 sub-sampling instead of up-sampling. But what is doing sub-sampling?

Can you post a screenshot and a sample scene when this happens?

Away from PC but I will post a screenshot and pm a scene.

I had the chance to mess with the up & sub sampling and it is simply Awesome.
Some of the scenes now, even at 4K, just render so fast, I am blown away.
I see uses for both sub sampling and up sampling...
many times a video is compressed so the speed you can get on up sampled frames is wonderful.
But the Sub has me totally enthralled....
what kind of wizardry did you guys pull with the sub sampling...the speeds and detail are awesome.
I can render 8K images in under a minute with no denoiser???!!!....What the F is happening! :D

I can see now- this PLUS an RTX speedboost?....Holy SHiiiiiiiiiiiiiizzzz....

the difference between sub-sampling and up-sampling is:
- the sub-sampling just provides a quick preview for the first frame. it means it just works for the first frame then it turns off
- the up-sampling will based on if it is enabled(toggled with that check box) and the current up-sampling mode(2x or 4x)
using the AI to scaling a lower resolution rendering up either at the end of the rendering or after that set minimal samples count

INTERNALLY:
sub-sampling and up-sampling will both be rendering a downsized scene.
for instance, if you are rendering at 2048x1024 resolution and 2x sub/up-sampling is enabled,
octane will rendering the scene at 1024x512 in order to get that boost up.

in the case of a skewed rendering, if possible could you please share a simplified scene file. I will be doing that debugging for you.

Thanks

Here you go!
Only happens when 2x2 Up-Sampling.

Thanks for looking at.
I am noting a repeatable pattern. Seems to occur when the width is > 1080p. In fact, even 1081 gets scrambled.
So, 1080p is okay, but then 1081p is messed up.
(NOTE - i have resolution aspect locked to 16:9 in my testing.)

Sorry, made another discovery.
Issue happens when "Enable AI up-sampling" is on/checked, but does not seem to happen if "Enable AI up-sampling" is off/unchecked.

EDIT:
Also happens on a 4x4 up-sampling @4320p (8K), but only when AI up-sampling is enabled
