every High Sierra users are using CUDA 410.130 driver with no issues, probably there is something different that is blocking your mac with High Sierra.
Have you tried to install a fresh version of High Sierra, maybe on an external hdd, with 410.130 CUDA drivers, and the GPU driver version that you are using now?
Please go to Apple menu, About this Mac, then press the System Report button, then go to menu File/Save, and share the resulting .spx file with me via PM, thanks.

Thank you, much appreciated.
Since I had the GTX1080ti installed a year+ ago my Mac has had regular kernel panics. The company who installed it for me (Create Pro) could never figure out why it caused problems, so I just live with it. I only had it installed for GPU rendering. I have tried everything I could think of including new CPU trays, new RAM, new motherboard, fresh installs on different drives. But nothing has solved the KPs.
Recently I updated to the latest CUDA and Nvidia web drivers and it has been stable. Maybe coincidence? But I'm very reluctant to roll back the drivers.
I'll send the report you requested in a PM. Thanks again for replying.
Edit: I get "The requested users to be added do not exist." when I try to Pm you.
