Hi,

Thanks, I found the switch. It was really far down in the settings. :)

I still find the difference to be really drastic. Will the new volume rendering eventually match the look of the older style?

regards

Most of those are very far along already, so not too far out!

That's great news! I have been keeping V-Ray 3/Next & Octane v3/v4 side by side comparing GPU development since around 2015 and Octane has been really impressive, especially since v4. Out of core geometry and faster scene load times are a real game changer for those of us who render heavy scenes. The refactoring of the Maya plugin has made some very important progress also.

I'm just having a look at my licencing options....looking at the information, would I be right to think that v4 marks the end of the traditional cycle of Octane perpetual releases?

Going forward those who own perpetual v4 licences will pay for annual maintenance plans for future updates of v2018. If I choose not to renew my licence, will Octane default back to v4? or will it stay at the last version of Octane I was able to access during the expired maintenance period and to continue receiving updates I will simply resume my annual maintenance.

I'm interested in using ORC as well so a $14.99 sounds like very good value considering that is $10.00 p/month normally. I'm tempted by 3 years of updates at the promotional price. Looks like it's called OctaneRender® Enterprise All-Access Annual Extension.

Does that provide unlimited cloud rendering? or is there a monthly cap?

These are good questions...would love to know answer as well....

Can you clarify if v2018 will be available as an upgrade or regular stand alone purchase for current licensed v4 owners (own not subscribe). And if so would that also apply to the 2018 Blender plugin?

I don't see it in the video, but I thought Jules had mentioned that Octane 2018 would be the version to finally offer lightfield volume rendering. Is that still part of the roadmap? And if so, any idea how far down the road it is?

In comments to your demo video I read that your daylight system will be able to generate clouds in one of your future releases. is it true?

I just successfully upgraded my V3 license to V4 and now i see i can further upgrade to that OctaneRender® Enterprise All-Access Annual Extension...for either 1,2 or 3 yeard and at according price.

I have 2 more questions:

- it says in the description, if i do so, i will get access to that DCC plugin ecosystem - does this mean i will get plugin to the modeling app of my choice? I was always using strictly Standalone, there were times, when i considered getting plugin, but somehow never did that... so i just want to be sure i am understanding this correctly.

- the other thing, that 400 OB score mentioned in OP - does this pertain to Octane 2019 or 2018.1 already? Hopefully the latter

Seriously, I see some great and awaited sutuff here, what a beautiful surprise !

This said, I meet an issue with a image texture, it is rendered completely blue, though it contains several colors (blue, red, yellow, white and black), will investigate to try to isolate the context.

What it should be :

The attachment Capture1.JPG is no longer available

What I got :

The attachment Capture2.JPG is no longer available

When you have some time, please send a small test scene if you can. Thanks

The problem seems to be due to the displacement, I attached a quick test scene to illustrate the issue.
