It's unclear whether we should upgrade now and take advantage of the 25%.

You can stay on monthly subs at 19.95, and that is as it has always been although with V4 you get up to 20 GPUs instead of 2 max.

Now - at the same monthly rate - but paid annually, you get all access to other DCC plug-ins, ORC and more, plus this annual rate is 25% discounted through BF - making it 14.99/month over the year.

That's clear thank you. Do I have to cancel my subscription?

Edit: Trying to take advantage of the discounted upgrade and it's telling me "You currently have no eligible products attached to your account."

Honestly, I've never seen a more confusing and unfriendly product rollout than this.

Ooomf... :|
Win 10
416.34

I'm getting stability glitches I had experienced back with V4 XB1, now when using my V4 RC 6-7 scenes, in 2018 XB1
These scenes do have FBXs and ABCs.

But even if I try and rebuild the scenes with FBXs and ABCs fresh with 2018 XB1, I get the same glitches:

(1) System Freeze, to Blue Screen
(2) Red GPU warning that the GPUs all failed
(3) Dislikes me using denoiser, causes crashing all by itself when activated
(4) missing mesh parts to an FBX loaded in (ie Abstrax, use the scene I had recently sent you with the FBX and ABC timeline thing, you can see with that scene)

But, yeah, I know it's round one, so this stuff will happen.
Scenes all working fine in V4 RC7, so I can assume it's a 2018 XB1 early-build glitch thing.

I noticed the following is not in this early build, is it coming later, or no longer planned:
1 anime kernel
2 substrates
3 Up-sampling

THX!

Hi,

Could you give the basic format for getting attributes to work. For example, the color attribute in houdini is called Cd. I exported the mesh as an fbx which stores the attribute. What do I write in the OSL editor to make it work?

The basic OSL syntax. I'm not a programmer, but I'm good at copy paste. :)

regards

They're coming soon and are about as far along as the rest of the features in XB1. We could have put them into an XB2/3 release in this cycle, but decided it was better to hold them back a little while so we could focus on getting what we just released to RC1/stable faster so people could use them in production ASAP without waiting on the rest. The new hair BRDF, substrates and a other features require the denoiser to be retrained, which is something that we plan to do in tandem with a major feature improvement we're working on for the AI denoiser in 2019.

Are you looking at the purchase page or the rental page? Go to the rental page and get an annual pass, there is no need to upgrade anything, just cancel the monthly subscription (it is a different licence).

There seems to be a massive difference between the volume render look of Octane 4 and 2018.1. Same light bounces including volume bounces for 2018.1 and same shader settings. The top one is 2018.1 and the bottom is Octane 4.

Sorry the BF discount is on currently set for first year only for the extensions right now. The site has been updated to make it clearer that it's not for the full 3 years, but the BF discount was intended to cover 2 years (as it does for new purchases), and we will make the change to the upgrade page to reflect this and will be providing refunds of the difference to those who paid more since last night.

There is a way to switch between the new and old volume rendering systems as mentioned in the release notes.
