What version Node Render to use with 2020.2_2.34?

Just Updated to latest Stand Alone (2020.2.3) and latest Octane Blender (2020.2_2.34). Having issue getting Network rendering to work with Octane Blender (works fine with Stand Alone).

I get the following error in Blender’s Octane Render Network Preferences Window: Invalid version (10.02.15 [0]).
What version of the Render Node Damon do I need to use with Octane Blender 2020.2_2.34?
Win 10
3.7Ghz i9 10900k / 64GB
ASUS STRIX Z490-E
PSU: PowerSpec 850Wd
RTX 3090 Asus Tuff

Network rendering:
Win 10
4.2Ghz i7 7700k / 64GB
AsRock SuperCarrier
PSU: EVGA 1200w
RTX 3080 Ti EVGA Hybrid
RTX 3080 ASUS Tuff
GTX 1080ti SC Black (wc)

I went through this, too. Not fun at all.

Bottom line, as far as I can tell, there is no Render node for 2.x

The last Render node is for 1.5.

And when you reach out to support, they tell you all you have to do is match versions... there is no match.

Certainly hope there will be soon.

Oh man. Not what I wanted to hear. So confusing with all the different versions and updates. So basically I have to re-install 1.5? I am new to Network Rendering. Was so happy when I got it working with Blender just over a month ago. But I had no idea keeping my Octane Blender installs up to date would now break that. Certainly adds a lot more stress when thinking about updating!

Can Devs offer any timeline on when a compatible Render Node will be made available for Octane Blender?

Don't rely on me.
I am as confused as can be.
There is a 2.2 node.

But you know, I have tried it on this latest OctaneRender™ for Blender 2020.2 - 23.4 [STABLE], and the previous.
Is not seen by the master on my system.

I will try again and keep you looped in here if anything good comes of it.

So, for me, 1.5 was the last network render that worked. I would love to know if someone has it working for the latest.

23.4 uses Octane 2020.2 integration (so no 2020.2.1...).
Just use the node installer you can find here and it should work:

Hi Lino and thank you for the info.,

The node is now seen by the master - Unfortunately, there is no benefit to render speed.

In fact, the Network Render is adding about a second per frame. 1920x1080, 400 samples.

My 2 2080Supers on the slave show virtually No Cuda Activity within Task Mgr.

Previously, with NetworkRender the Slave Cuda ramped all of the way up for each frame.

GPU-Z shows Cuda is selected on the Slave.

Both computers have the latest NVidia Driver.

Can you advise?

For Pegot: I uninstalled all previous Render Nodes. This, plus the Nvidia updates may have enabled the Master to see the Slave.

I have my set up working fine now with 2020.2 on the slave. Out of the four files I quickly tested for network rendering only one exhibited an issue where network rendering was slower. But that particular file is a bit of a mess, has always caused me some strange rendering issues, and also uses Out of Core (the daemon on the slave machine does have the Out of Core option enabled).

Thank you , Pegot. Great to know. And, I assume that those files that behave well show a hearty GPU ramp up on the slave.
I will test with some simple files.

After several tests, I am finding results all over the map.

•Some files render negligibly faster.
•Some a good percentage faster.
•Some absolutely slower.

I am not seeing any difference with Out of Core, but perhaps there a settings to fiddle with here? Ideas appreciated..

Not seeing how to enable Out of Core on the Slave for the plugin.

It would be great if there were some table that explained Network Render possibilities, under assorted file circumstances (e.g. particular modifiers, shaders).

If for no other reason than to calibrate expectations with reality.

Or, maybe simpler, a test.blend file has known ~% network vs. non-network outcomes, so folks have starting point.

Hey protovu, you enable that as one of the options after running the batch script _install_daemon.bat. That opens the console where it asks you several questions such as port, number of GPU's to use, and if you want out of core enabled. If you use out of core it also asks you to enter in a RAM amount .

See more info from docs (jump down to part where it talks about the Daemons).
