Correct SMOKE nodes? [SOLVED]

Hi,
I can't figure out how to render smoke (Octane 4, Blender 2.79).

Could someone please tell me the correct Blender Octane node settings?

Thank you in advance!

The main issue with how you have your setup is that you are applying the volume medium to the inflow object (torus). You need to hook up the volume medium onto the domain object (cube). Also if you want fire in the volume you need to change the flow type of the inflow object to "Fire + Smoke" or "Fire". Otherwise the simulation will not generate the data and the emission will not do anything.

Oh, thank you so much (for the n'th time)! Great!

I actually only want (colored) smoke -- should I still select "Fire + Smoke" or "Fire"?

Just set the flow type to "Smoke" and that should do it. :) I was just thinking you wanted fire because you had an emission node setup.

Oh, hehe, I didn't know what the emission node was good for -- I just copied the setup. :)

Thank you very much again!!

I tried applying the nodes to the Cube instead of the Torus, but for some reason I don't see any difference.

The weird thing is that if I click 'Flow,' with the Cube selected, the existing smoke disappears.

And when I then click 'Domain' again, the ticks in 'Smoke Adaptive Domain' and 'Smoke High Resolution' are gone, too...

EDIT: Oh, now I connected the Volume Medium's node to Material's Volume input (instead of Surface), and that works! :) Great!

But now, I can't figure out how to change the color and density (which is huge) of the smoke...

As for the color, I assume that I should attach the RGBSpectrum to something -- but what? The Volume Medium doesn't have something like a texture input...

EDIT 2: Ah, Scattering!
:)

And Density should be set under "Scale" in the Volume Medium.

Wow, so everything works now -- awesome! Thanks again, grimm, if you've followed this work in progress... :)

I'm replacing the current .blend file with the new one that works if somebody else can use it for anything.
