vray converter

Hey everyone,

I am working with 3ds max and Octane and am thinking of switching to another modelling software. Thus I am wondering, if there is a material converter included in the Octane for Blender plugin as there is in the 3ds max plugin? I'd have to convert Vray-Materials into Octane-Materials.

Thank you in advance & greetings :)

There is Cycles to Octane material converter but no V-Ray to Octane. You will have to use MaxToBlender to convert V-Ray to Cycles then Cycles to Octane

Max to Blender Cycles:

Cycles to Octane:

Hey J.C,

thank you for your answer. Ok, that is a workaround.

But why is there only a vray-converter in 3ds max and not in the other octane plugins? People have to use vray-model-presets there aswell right?

Greetings

3ds max file format can be read only in 3ds max. The only way is to write a plugin or a script for 3ds max that will export 3d scene to blend file format with converted materials.
