Blender smoke/fire?

Hi! I can do smoke and fire in cycles, but i thought i could achieve better results in the octane plugin, but the smoke only renders as a cube.
Are there any tutorials that could explain me what I'm doing wrong?

thanks!! :P

You need to enable Openvdb in smoke cache settings.

Be sure to have an Octane Volume Medium node attached to the Volume input of the Material Output, and play with the values.
The ones you see in the attachment should let you see something more similar to some smoke than to a cube! ;)

I hope this helps.

Hello,

I have recently tried this terrific ink drop tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iw8hj2Uycvk , and while it works great with cycles, I cannot seem to get anything visible happening with Octane.

I do have OpenVDB enabled, and I also tried the Volume Shader shown by Linograndi.

Any help appreciated.

Hi protovu, can you share your .blend file with the ink dop?

Hi J.C,

Here are 2 .blend files. One is for Cycles.
The other , -O, is Octane.
I managed to get some visibility in the -O by looking to the Blender/Octane plugin Manual.
But, it is not the desired effect.

You may need to bake a bit.

Thanks for taking a look,
Rick

Try decreasing "Step length" to something 0.150. Be careful, if you go to low it my freeze the rendering.
