Viewport v Final Render - differences in look

Hello.

I know this has been discussed before, but is there any new guidance to ensure that the viewport and final render 'look' is the same?

I find that, depending on light and materials used, they're frequently different.

Again, there's a thread on this elsewhere, but it doesn't give specific instructions... unless I'm reading it wrong.

Thanks in advance.

What any new guidance do you need? The rules are the same as discussed before.

If you want to have exact image in vewport and in final render you have to remember of two things:
- Turn on "Octane Imager" check box in camera settings.
- In scene settings -> Color management > set Display Device to "None", Exposure to "0.000" and Gamma to "1.000"

You can still use Blender's Color Management in final render but only with above settings it will match viewport and final render.

Vignette setting in Imager may also darken a viewport image more than in final image. That depends on how big is your viewport window.

Thanks J.C. - You've quoted yourself talking about the v2 plugin in another thread.

So now we have this thread, linking to another thread talking about an old plugin, that has a link from JimStar talking about a missing button...

Would you mind doing screenshots of the exact solution in this thread? It sounds like you have it sorted, but I think a clearer, 'new' version that's based on the latest plugin should exist...

I really appreciate your help.

Hi all,

Thanks to everybody for the feedback! I will raise a discussion with our documentation team about providing better clarity on how to achieve a more consistent Final Render. Big thanks to J.C. for offering his insights into the matter.

Cheers,
Azen
