Hi Yoyoz,

Man, Please keep up the great work!

I feel like the Blender/Octane community is very lucky to have someone of your capability picking up this most vital link between the funky 2.5x Blender build-process and up to date Octane versions. For all of the trouble, know that it is such a pleasure to use something which works well from Blender 2.5x and have access to all of our favorite Octane render path. Thank You!

Cheers to you when you come to Los Angeles!,
John

PS - I hope RS works closely with you to build the final plug-in.
You have a really good knack for smart work flow and functionality.
Plus, you have weathered the inconsistency of the Blender 2.5 programming environment.
And, you still have hair.

Hi John,

thank you for your support. Unfortunately next trip to the US will be in Salt Lake City with no stop in LA planned. Keep the beer in the fridge anyway, just in case :-)

I do not get any support or information from RS as I'm not the official blender plugin developper and not following official guidelines. As a result I've to find/guess everything by myself but this is part of the fun. I know nothing about the future XML I/O format yet, so there will probably some delay before I can adapt my script, unless RS provides a fully featured and official one making mine obsolete/useless.

Cheers,
Lionel

Thanks Daniel!

Here are latest plans from Ton Roosendaal for Blender 2.57 and above:
Ton Roosendaal wrote:- 2.5x
We are currently preparing the first official (non-beta) 2.5x release,
numbered as 2.57. This might be released early April. Work will then
continue 2 months on wrapping up the crucial 2.5 targets, resulting in
a May/June final release (2.58).

Further comments also say that the API will then be stable (depending of course on bugs and unfinished features). They also plan to release intermediate stable versions at a higher rate than before.
