Hi Sdados,

I think the problem may be the login process...there's no feedback that the login was successful.

It sounds like BlenderOctane & Octane Server are not communicating.

I doubt low vram is at fault...at least for me...my GTX580 has 1.5gb, and not having any
problems.

There should probably be a thread just for this problem since it's happened to several people.

BTW, did you use the key from your Otoy account? Just trying to rule out everything.

Keep trying...you'll get it to work. ;)

Hi Sdados, if the server icon disappears the server is closed.
Are you using the Blender Octane user and pass, it is different to the standalone.
Start with the default cube and F12 render for the first time after login completed with "Enter".
I had same problem with earlier version and after some fiddle around it work.

Cheers, mib.

Hi megacal and mib2berlin thanks for the answer! :)

it was exactly the login problem! I was putting the wrong data, I did not notice the new ones for the plugin! I don't know if I am too happy, because I have to work but now I can play with the plugin! :D :D

Sorry, I was not careful and I posted a message which I could avoid :)
However I think that a message to inform about the login result would help avoid a lot of errors such as mine! :)

Thanks again for the help! :)

Hi Sdados,
glad you got it to work! :)
BTW, it's good you asked...it helps others with the same problem. ;)
And this seems to be a common problem.

Installing OctaneRender for Blender is not hard, but it does require
jumping through more hoops & attention to detail that most installs don't.

Inciner,
is it working for you now? It should be a simple fix. ;)

JimStar,
when you have time ( ) could you please make the login say something like,
"Ready to Blend", or "It's Working!", or "Login Successful!", or just disappear
after logging in?
Thanks! :)

Yes, I have in plans to add different feedback-messages from server showing in Blender. Just after LiveDB will be done.;)

Hi JimStar,

I've been using the properties panel to manipulate objects, and just tried direct selection,
and noticed one possible (small) problem:

In Rendered Mode, I can select and move the planes freely, but when I select the sphere (and it shows selected in the Outliner) and then try to move it, the selection goes to one of the planes instead(?).

Am I doing something wrong?

Here's the .blend

Later...
Sorry....no problem now with a different blend...(?) Not sure what is the difference, but
now I can select and move the cube no problem in Rendered Mode. ;)

yaaaaayyyyyyy! I just finished setting up the materials for my cars-model collection! :D
Image

Doing it by hand was a bit tedious, but I learned a lot in the process, so JS I hope the database connection is coming along well ;) It will be a life and time-saver for us all!

I'd also like to know if there's any news on a mac build?

regards,

Alvaro

Congratulations, great job!
In your collection you also have a car "FIAT"? Can you give me one of your machines to test in a render ?
Thank you.

Thanks Simdal, the Fiat idea is great, I'll have to find one ;)
As of sharing the model, I'm sorry but I'm not allowed as they're part of a collection I purchased from Dosch Design:
http://www.doschdesign.com/products/3d/Cars_2007.html
However, I encourage you to purchase them as they're very high quality and easily customizable for rendering in different engines.

thanks for commenting.

Alvaro

Hi!
How do i configure an environment-texture?
I cant find a working way :/.

What i did:
World-Tab > Type > Texture
Texture DropDown: Empty

Nodes:
Tryed World Nodes with different textures ... could choose it in the DropDown but rendering shows nothing.
Tryed in Material Nodes to set environment-textures ... but rendereing shows nothing.

I whant to render a glass cube, where the reflections show a texture (image/sequence).
What is the right way?
