Adding 2 textures on one material?

I'm really close into doing this, 2 separate UV maps made, my one UV is the whole object and the other is just a face to put the text on. I have 2 issues so far. One: I can only seem to get 1 texture to work at a time and my one texture that is just on the face repeats itself. I can't seem to make it stop repeating when I set the UV texture settings to just clip. I'm unsure how to get these working in Octane through blender.

Here are some screenshots- The UV maps are fine so I didn't bother taking those:

The problem is two uv-maps.
Octane only supports one uv-map because the obj-format canĀ“t handle more than one map.

Oh, I see... So is there an easy way to allow text on top of my face? I don't want to have to make my own custom made texture just to add some bit of text on it. Not for this project anyways.

You can duplicate the box and move the faces out just slightly in front of the original box. Give it a different material and use the other texture with an alpha map.

Or, you can take your tileable texture and tile it in photoshop and merge the 2 images together. If you arnt worried about your VRAM getting eaten up it'll work but if your already short, this is a bad idea because that one image will be very large.

Octane also doesn't have any control over UV mapping, except scale. So you'll have to exactly map your both textures on one single UV map.

I encounter this problem of yours a lot. That's why I'm always repeating we need per texture UVs and the ability to per texture transform the UV space of objects...

So Octane has to tile? I can't use clipping at all? - *cries*

This is a really simple scene, so vram not an issue. However I would like to do this a proper way, Blender has a painting thingy in it and I found a pretty good tutorial on it. It's a bit more complex than what I would like (I'm done my project basically and I'm just being lazy), I just need to place text on it. Any good programs that are free that can do something like that? C4D has body paint which is really easy so is there something similar?

Paint the thing in Blender (load your both textures as a brush texture), save the result, load in Octane

Lol okayyyyy. I guess I need to make my text as the texture then? I didn't see any text tool in the painting thingy :P

In the screens you already have a text image :) (just use it as a brush texture)

(but yes, there is no text to texture option that I know of)

Ah okay. But is there no standalone program that is free that's good at this sort of stuff? There are a few that are good but you have to pay pretty big bucks in order to use. Photoshop can paint over models but apparently that creates big texture files (excessively so?). I just want to know for future projects since making textures seems quite fun.
