Hi Andreas, thx for letting me not alone :)

Sry, Never heard of group layer colors and how to set it up. I couldn't find anything about it except that in Blender 2.79 there used to be something like group object. In the render panels I can´t find a group layer color checkbox. I this a secret feature that I missed or more worse a standard feature that I missed all the years? :)

Thx for your affords ...

I've created a little video for you. I guess that's the quickest way to show the process.

No worries. Glad I could help. This might maybe come in handy for myself as well at some point. Let us know how the project turned out in the end.

With pleasure. I'll let you know when it's ready.

As is always the case, every answer is followed by new questions :)
But I don't want to keep bugging you but maybe you have the answer ready. it's about he Cryptomatte Instance ID, Cryptomatte Object Node and Object Node Name. I'm not sure if and how I can use these CM ID's sensibly. The Instance ID Node comes in many colours just like the Object ID Node and the Object Node Name comes in one colour.
It would be great if I could control these in a similar way to the colour layer ID that you showed me. But this is a new topic that I will post soon unless you have the answers already :)...

For animations the CM's are indispensable and the more of them I can use the better ...

Thank you and see you soon, cheerz chris

No worries. I always learn new things myself when I dig into these subjects.

I'm not a expert on all those other Cryptomatte passes in Octane. This might need some digging into the manuals. I myself only use the Object ID and Material ID passes. But I'll check them out later.
