Sketchup and Octane

HI All

I used octane for Sketchup years back and was over all impressed with the speed I recall. But I also remember that it was not so stable and the UI sometimes did not work 100%.

I have tried to look for videos of SU and Octane online but have not really found anything of newer date. Also not much going on here in this forum.

I like to know the state of Octane for SU now.
How is the speed and the usability of Octane for SU ?
How stable is Octane for SU ?
How well do the denoiser work in Octane for SU ?
Did any one try the new RTX 3080 or 3090 cards with Octane for SU ?
Is there some one that could post a video online of the latest Octane for SU2020 ?

I plan to do renderings of interior scenes and some simple animation of furniture's.
Also do furniture design presentation to clients in real-time render windows, and for that I will need the speed of Octane.
I hope you guys can help me..... THANKS !!!

Hi Clausgs,

Sorry, we missed answering your previous post.
Have you tried the latest stable release here [ viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75792]?

We are still maintaining the plugin, please feel free to let us know there is an issue!

cheers

HI Octane

Thanks for the reply.

I just like to hear from other Octane + SU users what experience they have with the plugin.
Is it stable ?
Supports all the functions ?
And so on ?

I am on a laptop at the moment and my company will invest in a suitable desktop rendering computer.
So would like to know if any one have experience with the new RTX 3080 or 3090 ?
Speed ?
Comparison ?
Is it really worth the extra money to invest in the 3090 or ?

Hi Clausgs,

Thank you!! Yep, sure!!
Btw, it seems we do not have demo builds released for the latest stable.

If you are interested to test the latest OctaneRenderSU plugin please email us at [email protected]!

Also, please find the Octane Bench result for Ampere 3090

Thanks...

I will contact you later after we have a computer with a better GPU.
For now no need to test as we are just on our laptop, not strong enough.
