Hello all,

It has taken quite some time, but we are getting closer to the point of being able to release OctaneRender 3.08. This, in turn, means that we will then be able to finally put out our new Release Candidate of OctaneRender for Sketchup.

OctaneRender 3.08 will contain critical updates, without which we could not progress any further in development. In addition to these critical internal updates, this new version will also feature support for Sketchup 2018, the ability to change the default material type that SU Native materials are automatically converted to - and new features specific to OctaneRender 3.08.

Two things - the plugin will go through a round of internal testing, and 3.08 will go through some final validation stages before being released (naturally, it would make no sense to release a 3.08 plugin until OctaneRender 3.08 is released first).

This 3.08 update was a while in coming, and we are glad to be able to provide an affirmative progress report on the direction of the plugin. Apologies for the extended wait.

Can we expect the same functionality and stability as in version 3.04.4.5?

Or will some functionality be disabled? Sun/Sky update or the like?

Azen, what about a fresh start on bug report/feature request threads. Maybe copy the structure from Blender forum?

Octane SU plugin is the definition of insanity.

With 3.08 RC1 now public (which took a week longer than planned - sorry about the earlier post, which jumped the gun a bit on that), SU 3.08 RC1 is finally ready to be released this week - Maya 3.08 RC1 just went out last night (with a completely new UX for OSL and other 3.08 features), and SU, Max, Blender 3.08 RC1 are going through their own quick round of internal testing for a near tandem release within days of 3.08 RC1 standalone . Going forward, we intent to keep all major plug-ins up to date within a week of each other, and in sync with stable releases of the core engine.

The time to release for 3.08 was long, but it is also a the largest update we've done since 3.00 came out and has a many awesome features. Looking forward to your feedback.
