With the underlying technical challenges that are being resolved, it will be possible to create/restore workflows that were temporarily lost due to the refactoring. Regarding Sketchup Sun - Sketchup Sunlight is synced to Octane Daylight changes made in the viewport.

Currently, we are working to eliminate a bug related to the SU Extension Manager. We will be ready to release when this bug is removed.

Also, will there be an option to pause Octane, in the sense that it stops from generating "Octane Geometry" in the background while modeling?

In 3.4.4.5. you could pause the Octane render, but not the geometry generation process.

Hi patrickbarnekow,
I can confirm that the “Building geometry” issue has been already solved on both Mac and PC version.
