hello all

The material picker still doesn't work.
How can we edit materials?
Some projects have more then 100 material, its impossible.
When we use material picker, it should select it and then we be able to edit.

The plugin is very stable for now
render targets work
Pause Works
Reload Works

cheers

Hi Seekerfinder,
weird, the panels should be there:

Anyway, you should be able to recall the panels trom the Window menu and place them in the right place.

Hello again.

Is there anyone working with this version?

Without material pick we cannot do anything....

I have tested for a while and no cash..... But is disappointing not be able to prepare a project.

I have v3 in standalone and in SU plugin... But a work partner asked the price of the software... I just went to Otay page to check the price.

OCTANE + SU PLUG-IN.... More then 500€....for a pack... That is not in a final version... And it's not ready.

I don't understand...

Hi resmas,
we can understand the difficulties with lot of materials, and the picker would be a great help, but for now, you have to deal with Outliner and Node Graph.
A good naming system for materials could be very useful in this stage.
Captain Crowbar will come up with a solution as soon as possible.
About the price of the Combo, OctaneRender Standalone is full productive and stable and is offered at full price, while the Sketchup plugin is still in Beta phase and is offered at half price.
Happy GPU Rendering,
ciao beppe

Hello Beppe

Sorry for the late reply, but time is short.

I understand what you say, i really do.
But...its years of waiting, i dont blame Cap., i really only blame Otoy.

This is sad, i know StandAlone is 100%, and i use it all the time. But the plugin should not be for sale like this, you know how Mobo, Rino, Blender, etc are working, with much more features.

Can we know why the material picker doesnt work? i really cant test the capabilities of this version without that.

My goal was to pick a project tweak everything and then push it to see if there was a crash...something broke. But i cant use it like this.

An example, i need 10 hours to do with this version what i can do in 3 or 4 with the 2014 version.

Proxies, stability, material creation, displacement, control the textures, i have all of that in 2014 V2 version.
I only really lose time exporting and setting up render targets.

cheers

Just to keep everyone up to date: We are currently testing an internal build, based on the new 3.07 SDK, with fixes for several issues reported here, including a fully working material picker. Some of these have been more difficult than we expected because they involve the interaction of multiple systems - the material picker required work in both the SU plugin and the Octane SDK, for example, while the proxy issues are related to file name handling and require care to make everything work properly on both Windows and Mac (the problems sometimes seen when porting save files between systems come from the same underlying cause). Don't worry, we haven't forgotten about you or your wishlists! :D

Sketchup Daylight doesn't seem to work, I can change anything in the sketchup viewport and it shows in the octane viewport, except daylight.

Funny thing, old saved scenes from previous version of octane does remember daylight settings from sketchup.
