Anyone mastered spotlights? Because (I think) of the scaling system I've found it next to impossible to get this to work...

Hi,

If I understand you correctly, are you referring to IES lighting?

Hopefully this post proves helpful to you: https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=45465&p=228078&hilit=IES#p228078

If this does not answer your question, please let me know and I will see what more I can do to assist you.

Cheers,
Azen

Hi Azen,

Yes IES and loading in alphas also...I have all sorts of issues, most difficult to explain or reproduce accurately (mostly to do with scale blowing out I'm guessing) - so I was wondering if there was a standard tutorial of good SketchUp practice out there.

Thanks,

- Rich

Also - is there a way to make the emitter invisible to the camera? Say like in Cinema or other softs?

Hi,

Official tutorials for the Sketchup plugin are works in progress at the moment. This is also a part of a major standardization occurring across all platforms (which is in the process of being defined).

I will aim to put together a tutorial of the correct workflow for IES lights, and post it here as soon as possible. As soon as we have the standardization completed, I will likely carry this over to the OTOY docs website.

I will aim to put the workflow together for you by tomorrow at the latest. Thank you for your patience.

Cheers,
Azen

Hi,

Apologies for the delay. I have encountered a few issues with the Node Editor in the process of doing this that warranted addressing.

The visual tutorial I will put up is essentially similar to what was in the link I posted (minus some of the clutter and missteps).

Sorry again for the belated response. I will get this up for the forum asap
