This really sucks - can't deactivate sketchup

i use octane render for sketchup at work and at home. (i also use it with 3ds max)

the plugin is activated at home and it can't be deactivated - the window is blank - so i can't select deactivate - so now i can't render at work.

until this is working we need the deactivate buttons on the liveaccount page!

i use
sketchup 2015
octane 3.00
octane plugin version 3.0.0.20

THANKS

Looks like you can deactivate it from the license page again, until they fix the problem.

I sent a help request to the [email protected] since then I've had the deactivate buttons available.

Hi Jorgensen
With v3 there is a change of behaviour for license authentication. Instead of deactivating, you should sign out by going to the Account tab under File > Preferences and click the ‘Sign out’ button. This will close the current session and release the standalone license. If any plugin is running at that time, it can still be used until the host application is closed. So you don't need to deactivate and wait for the hour cool down any longer. Once you are signed out and the host application is closed the license will be available when you login on another computer.

The behaviour is different again if you use the Offline licensing mode. If you want to use the license on a home and office computer, it is best that you don't use this option. If offline licensing is enabled, the license key will not be released upon the application exit but instead will be locked to the current machine until the session is explicitly closed (signed-out) via the account preferences for which the machine should be brought temporary online.

Here is a link https://docs.otoy.com/manuals/manuals/o ... et-access/
to the Standalone manual for some further information.

Kind regards, Win

hi win

yes - the license system has changed - i have discovered that.

the problem is
- not the standalone version
- not the offline mode (not using it)

i can fine use the standalone version and 3ds max, and they both deactivate fine - when i close them.

the problem is the sketchup version.

the plugin is activated and i can use it - but i can't
deactivate
the plugin.
if i go to extensions > octane > license - the window opens, but it's blank so i can't do anything.

if i just exit sketchup, the plugin isn't released autmatic - and as there is no deactivate button - i can't use it on other maschines.

thanks
jorgensen

I activated via v2, the website presented a deactivation button.

This way I can still use the old method. Probably wont use v3 until these bugs are ironed out. Hope that helps.

this still sucks.

@fivebythree
thanks for the tip.
i did manage to unauthorize via uninstall 3.xx > reinstall 2.xx > octane > deactivate.

then tried to reinstall 3.0.0.20 - and still can't deactivate via octane > license nor does the license deactivate when exit sketchup.

i guess i have to go back to the never finished version 2.xx.

to many plugins - to few developers.

For SU deactivation I went back to v2.4.2 'stable version'. I now have a deactivate button for it as well.
