SU can't start after Octane plugin install. Tweet

Hi,

Was interested in Octane 1,5 years for now and decided to buy license for SketchUp plugin after testing of demo for a while. Demo was 10.520.
After installation of 10.621 SU can't start - startup ends with Bugreport window. Tried with 8 Pro and 2014 Make, same result - before installation of Octane Plugin works ok, after Bugreport window and that's it.

Standalone works fine.

Any ideas how to solve this?

I'm here to the rescue

First of all make sure that you have uninstalled Demo versions of Octane for Sketchup. If demo version worked fine then commercial version should work fine as well. Then clean-install the commercial version again.

Also make sure that you are installing the proper version of Octnae4SU. 2014 installer will work only with SU2014, 8-2013 installer will work with 8-2013 SU.

If nothing helps, could you please send me the log files (is the exist) which are located here:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\Octane\SketchUp\logs

Please make sure that no Octane files exist in the "C:\ProgramData\SketchUp\SketchUp 2014\SketchUp\Plugins" folder before installing new build.
It seems like Sketchup crashes while trying to read license file. It might happen when you installed Commercial version over Demo version and file conflict arose.

Also, could you please provide info about your system? OS version, hardware, etc.

Same story, Bro.
Made uninstall of plugin via control panel:

checked for no any octane folders inside Sketchup folders:

then made reboot, then started SU:

and after made install of plugin from your post, bug splat again:

Tried also with 2014, same result.

System info - Win7 home basic, 64 bit, SP1, i7-3930K 3,2 GHz, 16 Gb ram, GTX 580

Think you right about reason of conflict - I didn't made uninstall of Demo before installing commercial version, but why this happend to 2014 which I install lately, when problem with 8 appears?
New logs in attachement.
Hope I'll not need reinstall of win7 now

Could you please tell your Username in the system? Does it contain cyrillic sybmols? Plugin crashed on trying to get your USER folder path.

Hi to all!

Problem solved, it turned out that SUPlugin can't reach license file if name of user is written in cyrillic symbols.
Thanks to Bro we found it and now I can proceed with rendering

Для русскоязычных товарищей - Октан крашит Скетчап если имя пользователя в системе написано кириллицей, т.ч. создаем нового пользователя латинскими буквами, заходим под ним и все работает отлично

Hi, I just upgraded to 2.03 stand alone (working nicely) and got the sketchup plugin too. But on my setup, sketchup 8 keeps crashing during startup. I tried all steps mentioned above. Did not work. Any ideas? log files attached.

Thanks for the log files.
Could you please tell your OS Version and full path to the user folder (I have C:\Users\fuzzybro)? Does it contain non-latin symbols (UTF-8)?
