Hi all,

Here is a new build for you.
This build matches OctaneRender Standalone 2.02 so in order to use Network Rendering please update both products.

Previous build with changelog is here
viewtopic.php?f=31&t=40735

Changelog
  • Unlimited number of textures (but they should fit in VRAM)
  • Refactored Kernel management
    • Faster and more stable UI controls
    • Fixed broken PMC controls
    • Added missing "Specular Depth" to PMC
    • Fixed AO distance issues
    • Added Filter Size control
    • Cleaned redundant nodes on ".ocs" export
  • Added "Update Proxy" context menu
  • Added Image Responce selector
  • Added ".png" to the output image if no extension found
  • Added ability to export to .orbx (just add .orbx extension when exporting scene)
  • Output resolution limit is set to 4096x4096
  • Fixed few bugs in Network Rendering settings (choosing different subnet was not possible)
  • Cleaned Log output

Warning:
Due to changes in Kernel setting management old scenes might lose kernel configuration
Also, I have to limit resolution to 4096x4096 because at some point bigger images will no longer fit in 32bit address spaces and cause SU to crash. If you want to render images in larger resolution please export scene to ".ocs" and render it in OctaneRender Standalone x64.

Commercial versions
http://render.otoy.com/customerdownload ... 10.621.exe

Demos
http://render.otoy.com/downloads/octane ... 1_demo.exe
http://render.otoy.com/downloads/octane ... 4_demo.exe

And of course I couldn't resist posting a wonderful render by resmas along with new features pic :)

Cheers!

Bro

Hey man, thanks for the update! Great new features... This may be a stupid question, but if I set the resolution to 4096x4096 how do I resize / zoom out the viewport to fit 100% in my screen so I can setup the camera etc, on my 1080p monitor I can see less than a quarter of the final render and I have to scroll about with the left click to view the whole thing... In the standalone you can zoom the viewport in and out independently of the camera to see the whole render, is this possible in the plugin..?

Cheers!

Hi KyriakosCY,

Nope, not yet. This feature is on the roadmap but the priority was low. I'll add it in the next build.

Cheers

Hi Fuzzy,

LiveDB link fixed - thanks!

BUG: Environment light source won't switch back to SU daylight after having added an HDRI / image - see image attached.

FEATURE REQUEST: Would it be possible to have a function where we hide geometry that catches a shadow while retaining the shadow? Effective a shadow catcher in the plugin. I see we don't have the MATTE setting in the diffuse material node in the plugin. But having an approximation of shadows in SU without going to a 3rd party composting app would be the preferred workflow for me anyways. This would be great if possible!

ROADMAP ALTERED - BUT WHY?: My beloved Phantom Scatter has been removed from the roadmap. Just wondering why? It's becoming quite a powerful tool and I did not think adding the scatter node functionality that gives user access to the use of CSV files would be a massive job. Did I miss a headline? If not, please put it back on the list!

Cheers,
Seeker

Another issue possibly linked to this? When I assign an HDRI to the environment, that same image appeared when opening an older file! Mysterious but true.

EDIT: Ok, this only happened once. It may be when multiple files are opened simultaneously? You might look into that one.

Best,
Seeker
