Fading an object without seeing geometry behind it ?

Hi,

Is it possible to fade out an object in 2D like in After Effects ? When I try using the opacity float in the material, or the c4d octane objet tag (visibility tab) I can see unwanted parts of the geometry behind the object in different shades.

Is there a way around this ?

Thanks!

What you mean different parts of the geometry?
I've done it using the opacity in the shader - plug in a float node into the opacity and keyframe from 1 to 0. Is that how you did it?
