can't seem to get denoiser working Tweet

I am on Mac OSX running r21 and Octane 2020.1_XB2-R2.

I am trying to get denoising working - I've switched on spectral denier on my Octane Camera, and checked enable denoising in my settings, but this setting won't stay on.

In my live viewer I can see two tabs at the bottom - main and noise, but no denoise.

What am I doing wrong?

First thing to do is update from the XB builds to the latest RC3 along with the latest C4D plugin. I think I remember seeing denoiser issues a while back.

Will get updated, meanwhile I've turned on render passes and the denoise beauty pass and now I have a DeMain button in the live viewer showing the denoised image. Is that the correct approach?

You shouldn't have to enable render passes to see the DeMain button in the Live Viewer. As long as you have denoising enabled either in Octane Settings>CameraImager if you do not have a camera object active, or in the individual active camera's CameraImager settings if you do, you should see the button. Realize that different cameras can have different settings, and the options available in Live Viewer will change as you switch which between them.
