Hey, after using Redshift for several months, i have to switch back to Octane for a new job opportunity and i'm quite a little bit lost as to what material type to use... Mix mat, Composite mat or Layered mat. Man, this is a bit confusing. I guess, the new Layered material with material layers will eventually replace the Composite mat and sub materials, right? Or am i missing something here? Gotta appreciate the flexibility of the RS shader tree here...
Composite material or layered is new ways to go if you use C4D. Composite thing is same in backside but better to manage and avoid problems of mix materials.

In short, composite will replace mix materials not layered materials. Composite is new way to mix different octane materials. And sub material is octane material in reality but have to rename and make it in texture form to use under composite materials.
