Octane Render Failures (Consistent Failures)

Hello,
Thank you in advance for feedback and help! Much appreciated.

I keep running into render failures. This makes octane render almost unusable.
I have had an issue since Octane 1 so I took a break, and I am looking to upgrade to Octane 3 but I am having the same issue.

Attached:
- Logs
- Video showing the problem:
https://youtu.be/hFGWyNLQjgE
(This video obviously shows me trying to recreate the problem with overlapping GEO)

I know overlapping polygons are not good. Could this be a cause for some of the render failures?
It also happens when there are absolutely no overlapping polygons but in this case the render failures are a lot less.

I recently installed Cinema 4D and Octane on a Windows computer and got the same issues.
Cinema 4D 19.053 (latest)
Octane 3.07 Demo
Cinema 4D plugin (latest, just downloaded it from official spot yesterday)

Graphics Cards
Nvidia 670
Nvidia 760
(I know they are different, I dont use them for gaming. It was my understanding different gpus in octane was ok, but I have heard other places say it seems to cause issues sometime.)
I have yet to try only using one card, but I will do that.

Thank you much in advance!
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
thanks for sharing the logs, and the screen capture.
You are having CUDA errors, and since they are at a lower level, you need to close/reopen c4d to reset the things.
In general CUDA error 7XX are driver related, which exact version of OsX and drivers are you using?
Note that you need to disable the Synchronizr on geo update option in Octane Settings/Others tab, under OsX, for better stability.
Double click on the active frame in the timeline, if you need to update the view. You don’t need to continue press the Reload button, especially if the scene is already going to be updated (yellow text in Live View).
If you need to do this, firstly press the Stop button to completely remove the scene from VRAM, then reload the scene.
Hint, always convert to Octane materials and shaders, the c4d materials and shaders , removing them from the material manager, for better stability.
Please, use one GPU, the one with less VRAM, for system/display/OpenGL only, by disabling it in the Devices panel, in order to use the other one for CUDA rendering only.
Under Windows, use DDU to completely remove the Nvidia drivers, and perform a clean installation of 388.13 drivers.
ciao Beppe
