3.08 Anisotropy Question

Hi there,

how do I use the new Anisotropy Rotation feature in the 3.08 preview?
What kind of image/shader can it put into that slot?

Thank you.

Nevermind I found the solution.

You have to use some other shading model that the native Octane BRDF Model. Here's a rundown for those of you interested.

To add to this:

My pattern (256x256px normal map from Google) did not show up until my roughness was at least 0.4, even with the Anisotropy slider set to 1. I also had to use an Image Texture node connected to Rotation and then add a Transform node to that and set my S.X and S.Y to 0.04 to get it to size right.

Could you please share your material?
I've tried many time but can't see the Anisotropy effect (3.08 test 6.0 - R19)

Thanks

Luca

Hi Luca,
as already said by speltrong, you need a good amount of roughness to have a pronounced effect.
Here is a fast example:

mmm. interesting, I've placed the same parameters and map on my material and.. don't work.
Note that I've modify an old material made with old Octane version.
If I redo the material starting from zero it work.

Is possible that old materials cannot converted with the new features?
