Hello all. I have a problem with z-depth pass on scene with clouds from vdb volume. When I render z-depth pass I didn't see clouds. Any solutions for that? Thank's for help.

Hi Stomper,
since in volumes there is no geometry, the standard info passes cannot work with them.
You need to use the Render Layer passes with volumes:

Hi bepeg4d, thx for you reply! I know that render layers can work with vdb volumes but I need to have a z-dept pass on scene where I have vdb clouds. I don't understand what should I do to make z-dept pass from render layer? Hope you will explain me that case. Waiting for you reply :)

I think he means that in Z pass the VDB are not visible. Correct? I am interested too in this. cheers

I would need Z-Depth for vdb too. Anybody find a solution?

With the latest 3.08 versions you can enable the Volume Z-depth front and back in the beauty passes. The info passes don't render any volumes.

Yes, there is that option but it looks like a mask, it doesn't create any gradient. Maybe I am doing something wrong, but it not works for me.
SOLVED: In Tonemap type (under Render Passes) has to be "Tonemapped" no "Linear"

Sorry to re-open the subject but, could somebody explain how to composite a Volume pass with Z-depth front and back ?
Also why is there a Front an Back z-depth for volume ? It is confusing to me and Octane manual doesn't cover this topic.
Thanks for your time.
