Hair thickness and mograph

Is it possible to control the thickness of "the render as hair" option in the octane object tag, via a mograph effector? I've done a hack where I use a single cloner set to blend mode (with two splines each with an octane object tag with "thin and then thick hair setting") and then cloning this, but this is very inefficient for working with the model in the viewport.

doesn't each strand/spline have a unique id? Even if there was just a way to randomize width or drive via a texture map would be pretty cool

Have you tried it with hair object? It should show thicknesses correctly.
