hi guys,

I'm pretty new to Octane so here goes it.

Was wondering whats the best way to fade off geometry in the background to black? Kinda like a an environment black fog, ways away in the distance I guess...

Any and all help would be awesome! Thanks!

Hi dgdunne,
here are some ideas:
1. use the Z-depth pass to fade the far geometry with black background in post, note that the Z-depth value is in meters, and you can input the exact distance.
2. if far geometry has only one material, you can mix it with a diffuse 0 opacity, and a sineWave node in amount.

3. if you have multiple materials, you could try with this particular technique mixed with the second solution:

Happy rendering,
