is it possible to Import .Orbx into C4D???

Hi all,
I have a scene from Octane standalone and I am trying to get it imported into C4D. First of all is this possible? I have tried using the "import .orbx" feature in C4D Octane plugin and it doesn't import anything at all. Then I also tried to import the models into C4D as FBX and they come through with no textures, so I tried to put the .orbx file into my local database for the octane materials and I get a message that says "offline" and it when I click "download" nothing happens.

I thought if you open the .orbx file the models and materials and lighting would all be in there? Is that not possible?

Thanks in advance!

this command is for importing materials not objects. And it comes from old times.
I have some idea to use external orbs in c4d. But will not work as importing geometries.

Thanks! That's what I was afraid of. It would be a really great feature to be able to transport from one app to the other, and keeping the geometry would be ideal. I actually was able to get it to finally bring in the materials, but I had to export them each individually from standalone then open them in C4D one a t a time then replace them on all the models....I think it could be a huge time saver if the scene just came in like it does in standalone with every thing all setup.

Thanks!

I have it on my to do list. But similar to proxy importer. Visible as bounding box in viewport and fine at render output. Otherwise it's a big task to implement an importer at the moment.

Yes I second that feature. We are having major issues between Maya and C4D pipeline in the office. Still trying to figure out how we can transfer materials and objects from various platforms. It seems easy to export but not to import.

I don't talk about writing an importer. Just an dummy proxy object to add and orbx and it will be only visible in render.

this question is more to the developers of the kernel

What is the meaning of ORBX format if it can not be imported between plugins by octane integration?

I'll add a proxy node for orbx in next releases. But import and convert to geometry in to c4d scene is useless and big task. No need.

no need?

ORBX ecosystem between plug-ins is not needed?

maybe this needs to be asked from users?

what then is the ORBX format?

only export to standalone?

Too bad he died, but Cactus Dan Lebich created an FBX file for translating between C4D and Maya for animation purposes. I use it for animation because it gets the faster view response in Maya and back to C4D for rendering with octane.
