Possible to "Use Light Color" to tint texture?

The "Use Light Color" checkbox in the light tag is a nice feature. However it seems to disable any input texture in the light.

I was hoping this feature would be similar to the "multiply by light color" option in vRay. This basically tints the input textures using the light color from the light.

I know I can tint the octane image texture using a mix texture or a color correct node but I like the convenience of checking this box and changing the c4d light. The c4d light color also changes the icon color in the object manager which is a really nice touch.

Can the "use light color" be adapted to behave in this way please?

Also with this recently added node (from 2022 experimental builds).
