Have updated the Misc settings under the render property a little bit.
Included are the "Render Layers" and the "Render Preview" tab, also some settings for the exr image output.

The "Preview Alpha Color" group will only be visible if alpha channel rendering is enabled under the "Render Settings" tab.

In the "EXR Settings", the "Deep Image" group is visible if the render kernel is set to direct light or pathtracing and the EXR output type is set to image.
So you can only save the current rendered image, or if some passes active, the current selected pass, as deep image.

Other options for the EXR output type are passes and passes multi, which will save all passes, if present, as single files, or with passes multi, all passes in one exr file.
If you want to save some passes, then you can also create a project file, which can be used with the otoy Photoshop plugin. In this file, all blending information are written.

Ok, have modified the save settings a little bit. It looks now like this:
saveSettings.gif

The background was to know, how the image should saved and i have done it via the pass output format.
format.gif
format.gif (15.31 KiB) Viewed 17574 times

Output can be png rgba 8/16bit, exr rgba float/half float and exr layerd float/half float.
Now i try to explain it a little bit deeper.

No render channel, the filename will be:
Default_Pass_Main_Beauty_Raw.1.png/exr

One render channel, the name will changed to:
Default_Pass_Main_Beauty_Reflection.1.png/exr
Depent on the channel. If you have select layered exr, the image will change to non layered exr, because it has only one channel.

More than one channel, the output becomes as example:
Default_Pass_Main_Beauty_Raw.1.png/exr
Default_Pass_Main_Beauty_Diffuse.1.png/exr
Default_Pass_Main_Info_Z-Depth.1.png/exr
Default_Pass_Main_Mat_Opacity.1.png/exr

The layered version will be:
Default_Pass_Main_Multi.1.exr

If you have enabled deep image in the render options, you will get:
Default_Pass_Main_Beauty_Deep.1.exr
And it will be saved in the same folder which the first output uses.

You can mix various output format together so you can get different results like this:
Default_Pass_Main_Beauty_Raw.1.png
Default_Pass_Main_Beauty_Diffuse.1.png
Default_Pass_Main_Beauty_Reflection.1.png
Default_Pass_Main_Layer_Colored_Shadows.1.png
Default_Pass_Main_Light_Ambient Light.1.png
Default_Pass_Main_Info_Z-Depth.1.png
Default_Pass_Main_Info_Position.1.png
Default_Pass_Main_Info_Material_ID.1.png
Default_Pass_Main_Info_Object_ID.1.png
Default_Pass_Main_Mat_Opacity.1.png
Default_Pass_Main_Mat_Roughness.1.png

Default_Pass_Main_Beauty_Deep.1.exr

Default_Pass_Main1_Multi.1.exr

I have included it in this way, also the render channels itself, because it makes no sense to include 50+ render channels in the create framebuffer dialoge.
Hope it isn´t too complicated and it is a little bit logical ;)

Hey Face

What remains to do to test 3.0 plugins ?

Will you support volume rendering soon ?

Thanks
Phil

Must first end with the image saving.
Sometimes images aren´t saved, if i try to save all channels in a file or in files.
Maybe it has something to do because i do it multithreaded.
Must check it out first.

After that i can take a look at the rendering itself when some channels have different max samples.
e.g. 1 channel has 1000 samples another one have 500 samples and you view the channel with the lowest max samples.
The preview will stop if the current viewed channel has reach the max samples. This will be ok for the preview.
But this will not work if you want to render the same situation to disk. So i have to wait till all channels have reached the max samples.
Must make some thoughts to make it work.

If this is finished, i can take a look at volume rendering.
The simplest way will be to do it over ice i think, but haven´t played before with openVDB.
We will see...

So, only a little overview.
Updated the existing camera shaders ( thinlens/panoramic ) and will add now the baking camera shader.

Image saving is nearly finished, but needs some finetuning.

If this is done, i will make a video and begin to add volumetrics.

Then i will add some things to edit/add the octane mesh propertys.

And then? I don´t know, it should all be included...

Volumetrics aren´t simple to convert, seems to include the complete openVDB toolset into the project to get all functionality.
Fighting now to compile openVDB on windows...
